The Republic of Yemen returned into the limelight in October 2010. The interception in Britain and Dubai of two explosives-laden packages - intended to detonate on cargo planes on their way to the United States - once again drew international attention to the terror threat emanating from the southwestern tip of the Arabian Peninsula.
